DC Chamber of Commerce Endorses Mendelson, Smith, and Thomas in 2010 DC City Council Races
July 27, 2010—The DC Chamber of Commerce has endorsed DC City Councilmember Phil Mendelson in his 2010 At-Large reelection bid, Jeff Smith in the 2010 Ward 1 race, and incumbent Councilmember Harry Thomas Jr. in the Ward 5 race.
“After thorough consideration, the DC Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee has endorsed three impressive political leaders who we believe are most committed to supporting the Washington area business community and its agenda,” said Gilbert E. DeLorme, Partner at Greenstein DeLorme & Luchs and Chair of the DC Chamber PAC.
The DC Chamber of Commerce, representing more than 1,700 businesses, is the largest business organization in the Washington Metro area and its PAC’s endorsements are widely considered influential as they reflect the sentiment of much of local business. The DC Chamber and its PAC are separate organizations and Chamber executives do not participate in endorsement voting.
“The DC Chamber of Commerce fully supports the decision of our PAC and we believe the candidates we’ve endorsed have the best plans to address the interests of Washington businesses,” said Barbara B. Lang, President and CEO of the DC Chamber of Commerce.
