The Election Has Already Started
Don’t be confused when you mark your ballot

The Board of Elections expects that as many as 20% of DC voters may vote early. And that’s great. Early voting at any of the five sites across the District will cut down on the lines at the polls on Primary Day, September 14. But there is an important piece of information that you ought to know about before you go to vote.

When you look at the ballot for At-Large City Council, you will see the name Michael Brown at the top of the ballot. He's probably not the Michael Brown you think he is. Councilmember Michael A. Brown – the tall one, the one you are most familiar with—is NOT on the ballot this year. In fact, he’s endorsed Phil Mendelson who serves with him on the City Council.

The man whose name is on the ballot this year is Michael D. Brown—a nice guy, but a totally different person. He is currently our Shadow Senator and he is running against Phil Mendelson and Clark Ray.

Here is a picture of Michael D. Brown—the one who is on the ballot—just so you know. And just so you’re not confused. In the name of voter education, please forward this message to your friends and neighbors. We don’t want anyone casting a vote for someone by mistake.

Here's a Fox Five report about the Michael Brown confusion:
